His real name is Jared Taylor Isaacman. He was born on 11 February 1983 in Summit, New Jersey, U.S. His family first lived in Union Township, then moved to Westfield, New Jersey, around 1987, and when he was 12, they settled in the Liberty Corner area of Bernards Township.
He went to Wilson Elementary in Westfield and William Annin Middle School in Bernards Township. While at Ridge High School, he started a computer services business with a friend.
At 16, he left school to work full-time and later earned a GED. In 2011, he completed a bachelor’s degree in professional aeronautics from Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University’s fully online Worldwide Campus.

On December 4, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Isaacman to be NASA’s 15th administrator, making him the first nominee named before the president took office.
The nomination was officially submitted on January 20, 2025, Inauguration Day. His nomination was widely supported in politics and the aerospace community.
Senator Ted Cruz, head of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, was backed by 24 former astronauts, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, and a group of southern governors calling for a quick confirmation.
He spoke out against the White House plan to reduce NASA’s science budget by half and cut 20% of its total funding in 2026.
On November 4, Trump announced he was renominating Isaacman for NASA administrator. His second Senate confirmation hearing took place on December 3, and the Senate approved him on December 17 with a 67–30 vote.
