Career Details
Sally Nugent started her media career at BBC Radio Merseyside. She later moved on to work as a sports news reporter and presenter on BBC North West Tonight. Over time, she also took on roles as a news correspondent for both TV and radio, and sometimes filled in as a presenter on the BBC News Channel.
Her big break on BBC Breakfast came when she appeared on the show with Bill Turnbull on Christmas Eve in 2012. From there, she became a familiar face on the programme, covering major stories like Emma Raducanu’s historic win at the US Open in 2021.
In September that same year, she officially replaced Louise Minchin as one of the main co-presenters after Minchin left the show following 20 years.
