When she was 19, she signed with Black River Entertainment. Later in 2014, she released her first single, Love Me Like You Mean It, which entered the Country Airplay chart in October that year.

Her first album, The First Time, came out on May 19, 2015, under Black River. In early 2017, Ballerini was ranked number two on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 – Music list.

That year, she was nominated for two ACM Awards, Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year for Peter Pan.

On November 3, 2017, she released her second album, Unapologetically, which debuted at number three on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

On September 6, 2019, she released Homecoming Queen?, the first single from her third album, Kelsea. Later, she announced a companion album called Ballerini, which came out on September 11, 2020.

Her first poetry book, Feel Your Way Through, was published on November 16, 2021.
