Elina Avanesyan made her WTA Tour debut in 2022 at Copa Colsanitas, where she reached the quarterfinals. That same year, she played her first Grand Slam at the US Open as a qualifier.
She continued to rise in 2023, making her WTA 1000 debut in Rome and later entering the main draw in Guadalajara as a lucky loser.
At the French Open, she became the first lucky loser in 35 years to reach the fourth round, boosting her into the top 80.
She also won her first Wimbledon match and later made history as the first Armenian to win a WTA main draw match at the Cincinnati Open.
