Diego Luna started acting in theater when he was just seven years old. As a child, he appeared in various Mexican TV shows and movies. He became widely known for his role as Tenoch Iturbide in the 2001 film Y tu mamá también, where he starred alongside his childhood friend Gael García Bernal.
Diego continued acting in Spanish-language films like Only God Knows (2006) with Alice Braga, the crime drama Walking Vengeance (2008)—which earned him a Goya Award nomination—and the soccer comedy Rudo y Cursi (2008), one of Mexico’s most successful films.
