His real name is Davis Compton Mills. He was born on 21 October 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He studied at Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Georgia.
During his time there, he threw for 6,290 yards and scored 66 touchdowns. He was chosen to play in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but couldn’t take part because he was injured.
He was considered a five-star recruit and was rated the best quarterback in his class. He chose to attend Stanford University in California to play college football.
He sat out his first year at Stanford in 2017. In 2018, he played one game as K. J. Costello’s backup. He later set a school record with 504 passing yards in a game against Washington State.

On September 4, he agreed to a one-year, $5 million extension with the Texans through 2025. In the 2024 season, he played in four games as Stroud’s backup, with most of his playing time coming in Week 18 after the team had already secured a playoff spot.
