He was born on 23 June 1986 in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. He passed away on December 5, 2025, at 39 years old. The reason for his death hasn’t been shared yet.

TMZ reported that the missing details have caused some confusion, but nothing has been officially confirmed. Before he began racing, he played defense for the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL.

In 2004, he helped the team win the Clark Cup and was picked as the “Most Improved Player.” His teammates at the time included future hockey star Joe Pavelski.

While running a part-time ARCA schedule, he also raced in a few NASCAR Truck Series events in 2008. He first competed on June 20 at The Milwaukee Mile and earned his best result of second place at Kentucky Speedway.

At the end of 2008, he joined Germain Racing to race in NASCAR’s Nationwide Series. He first raced at the season’s last event at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but crashed and finished 36th.

In 2011, he moved to Rusty Wallace Racing, driving the No. 62 Toyota Camry with Pilot Travel Centers as his sponsor.

On November 4, 2016, he announced he would return full-time to the Xfinity Series in 2017, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports.

On January 25, 2019, it was announced that he would drive the No. 1 Chevrolet, with the points from his No. 5 car transferring to it. Later that year, on October 6, he said he would retire from full-time racing after the 2021 season.
