Over the years, he became well-known for working with famous cult filmmakers like Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Walerian Borowczyk, Gus Van Sant, Christoph Schlingensief, and Dario Argento, and he also appeared in Argento’s classic film Suspiria (1977).

Some of his well-known Hollywood roles include playing Ron Camp in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), Curly in Barb Wire, a NASA psychologist in Armageddon, the villain Lorenzini in The Adventures of Pinocchio and its 1999 sequel, and Ralfi in Johnny Mnemonic.

He also showed up in music videos for Korn’s “Make Me Bad,” Eve and Gwen Stefani’s “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” and “Die Schöne und das Biest” by the former German band Rauhfaser.

He also did voice work, including roles like the Music Master in Justice League, Herbert Ziegler in The Batman, Ivan Bahn in Metropia, and Professor Pericles in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.

A documentary about his life and work, titled ICH-UDO…the actor Udo Kier, was made for the European channel Arte and came out in 2012. It later received a “Finalist Certificate” at the New York Festival in 2013.
